Update

Its been a long time since I've posted anything new on here. I just don't have the motivation sometimes! We've been busy too so I guess that could be part of it.

Life is good though! Zach just finished up the semester at the U and only has ONE MORE to go!! Wahoo! I'm so proud of him...he was offered an internship at both FOX 13 and KSL. Both are amazing stations and its an honor that they both want him. We decided to go with the KSL one and we couldn't be more excited. It will be a great opportunity for him and will hopefully lead to a good job somewhere once he graduates. (*cross your fingers!*)

I'm doing well...the baby is growing bigger all the time and I'm definitely feeling it! Here is an updated belly pic:

I freaked out when I compared this picture to the last one we took! The last month I've just exploded! :) But it means the baby is growing and healthy so we are grateful. She moves a ton and is getting pretty strong. The reality of having a little person to take care of is starting to set in a little more...I'm excited but nervous at the same time. We don't even have socks yet for the baby!! :) We will get them I'm sure but I just keep thinking of all these things we need for this new little life. We have been working hard on her room too. People keep joking about her coming out a boy but that is not even funny cuz we have worked sooo hard on pink things!! lol Anyway...she will be here before we know it.

In the meantime the next most exciting thing is Christmas! Christmas is my favorite holiday...I just love this time of year. We've been getting a lot of snow lately which means its been colder, I don't like being cold but I do like the snow, it makes it feel more Christmasey! And we are going home to Cali tomorrow for a whole 10 days! I'm so excited I can't even tell you. ALL of my siblings and their families will be there...we are getting so big there aren't even enough beds in my parent's house anymore so they are renting a motor home to park in the driveway for a couple families to sleep in. lol I think its hilarious. I'm so grateful for family. Well thats pretty much it for me right now. I will post some pictures of the baby's room in progress, etc. a little later. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Vote Yes on Proposition 8

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

I don't want to be one of those that just doesn't do anything and as a result gives evil more of a chance of winning. This post is specifically about Proposition 8 in California. Even though I can't actually vote, I can express my opinion and encourage those in California to vote YES. I'm a pretty non confrontational person, but there comes a time where every person needs to stand up for what is right. I'm not very eloquent so thats probably why I've put off posting this, but my sister posted on her blog a perfect explanation of why voting Yes on Proposition 8 is the right thing and sums up exactly how I feel, so the sections in quotes will be from her words...

If you don't know what Proposition 8 is, "Proposition 8 is on California’s November ballot and, if passed with a YES VOTE, will add these fourteen words to the California state Constitution: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”'

This issue is sensitive and important. My degree is in Marriage, Family and Human Development so a lot of my studies have focused on the family and marriage and its impact on society. I feel VERY strongly about this issue because I know that if Satan can destroy the family he has won. Family and marriage is the fundamental unit of society, it has been since the beginning of time, one of the first commandments given to Adam and Eve (a male and a female together) was to have a family. The family is sacred.

"I believe in equality. I believe in men, women and children being treated with fairness and love and provided equal rights for progression and success.

On that note, at the core, Proposition 8 is not an issue about rights. The passage of Proposition 8 will not limit or extend privileged rights to a single group so as to allow solitary advancement or progress. Same-sex individuals have and will continue to have the exact same rights regarding hospitalization and medical care, fair housing and employment liberties, and probate rights as every other heterosexual couple. And don’t mention taxes, as the issue of tax exemptions isn’t relevant. They exist to encourage procreation in furthering society. The issue is about preserving the fundamental and traditional definition of marriage, which we believe was established by our loving Father in Heaven for our happiness. It’s about me, my marriage and my children. It can’t get any more personal than that." I know people that choose a homosexual lifestyle, my brother in law included...and I love my brother in law, I don't agree with his lifestyle, but I still love him as a child of God. I love the sinner, but not the sin. And when legislation/those choices influence me and my family, how my children are taught, I have to draw the line, I have to stand up and say something.

"Beyond the consequences of school curriculum, doctors’ rights, adoption lawsuits, and religious freedoms, the rejection of Proposition 8 bears the greater result of the further breakdown of our society. Being an active member of the LDS faith, I believe with all my heart what prophets have taught for ages: the success of our society rests upon the strength of our families. The few European countries that have already legalized same-sex marriage suggest that any dilution of the traditional definition of marriage will further erode the already weakened stability of marriages and family generally. In a world weighed down with heightened divorce, abortion and teenage pregnancy rates, we definitely don’t need to add to the problem. Marriage is civilization’s primary institution, established long before government ever existed.

And again, as an LDS member, I believe we have a living prophet here on the earth today who communicates with our Heavenly Father and helps to guide us so we can return to live with our Father in Heaven and our families forever. Because I believe President Monson is a prophet, seer and revelator, I would vote for Proposition 8 even if none of the above reasoning existed, because he has asked me to do so. I believe in equality and I strive to teach my children to love and respect everyone. But considering the argument of equality the opposition is putting forth, I would rather my children learn to follow the prophet in faith over taking a chance on man’s reasoning."

" I urge you, whether you live in California or not, to study the issue and make up your mind for yourself. Below are some sites I recommend looking over, even if just to understand the supporting side. In the end, I truly believe each viewpoint is motivated by love. Of course there are people out there that aren’t treating each other kindly – people who aren’t taking the time to understand why another person would support or oppose the issue, and then they act out in haste. But underlining it all, I do think the majority of us want what’s best for our families and are voting accordingly.

We're back!!

So we are back in blogger world! We don't have our Mac computer anymore so we can't update our Mac blog. SO...we are switching back to this blog for the time being. Its been a long time since I've posted anything so this will probably be kinda a random/eclectic post.

Life has been stressful and busy lately. Zach has a crazy schedule going back and forth from class to work then back to class and back to work, staying at the office till 7 pm most nights just to get enough hours. He is my hero! He just applied for graduation though so that should be happening this next April. Yay! It will all be worth it.

Meanwhile I am working two part time jobs and carrying this little baby inside me wherever I go! :) She has been moving a ton and you can even see her moving sometimes. She is getting stronger and bigger all the time. We can't wait to actually meet her in person in a few months! And I can't wait to meet my new little nephew Tyler! My sister in law had him about a week ago but they are in Cali so I won't be able to meet him or my other nephew born this past August until Christmas. :( Heres a picture of cute little Tyler...

In preparation for the baby we have started to tackle our upstairs, the popcorn ceiling needs to be scraped off and walls and trim painted. We just finished with our room and now can focus on the baby's room and finally get the crib set up that has been sitting in a box for the past month or two. We also just got a changing table that needs to be painted and our glider needs to be painted too! So much to do. Its so nice to be getting the upstairs updated, it will be so nice when it is all done. Anyone that wants to come over and help would be welcome! :)

Halloween yesterday was pretty fun, I really didn't feel like dressing up so I didn't...Zach was too exhausted to really care about dressing up but he did borrow a doctor's coat to wear for Halloween. So Zach was a doctor and I was his pregnant patient. :) I went and visited my grandmas with my sister and nephew during the day then we went up to my sister's for dinner and to see my nephew go trick or treating. I got a really cute picture of my handsome doctor and my nephew the SWAT policeman. The night before Halloween we went to Zach's mom's to carve pumpkins and that was really fun too. We got talking about how much candy we really got when we were younger! We really did get TONS of candy...then you come home and dump it out and check out your loot. So fun. I'm really looking forward to the other holidays too. We are spending Thanksgiving with Zach's family and then Christmas with mine! I love this time of year, minus the cold. :)

Lastly here is a picture of my growing belly, this is probably about a month old so we will take a new one soon. Thats enough update for now. I'm kinda rambling now so yeah...

New House

So we have moved!!! Sorry we have been absent for so long (for those who actually read our blog :) ). But life has been CRAZY! With school, work, moving and going to Cali and Argentina in the next week its amazing we are still alive. I just can't WAIT until I graduate at the end of April. Anyway...we really love our new townhome, its so fun to be able to do what we want with the place. We really love our ward too. They have been so welcoming! There is so much to do when you are trying to fix up a place, I don't think we realized, but its been fun and we still have a ton to do. I think I've been to Home Depot and Lowes at least 6-10 times lately! Here are some pictures and a layout I did of our chaos:

There was this carpet runner on the stairs. One of the first things I did was tear it off! Adrienne and I started painting that ugly paneling. It certainly is chaos! I love that picture of Zach and I too. So in love! Here is that layout I did of it all:

One year...

Besides being my favorite holiday, February 2nd is also our wedding anniversary. Its amazing to think that we have been married for a year now. I've never really been one to have that sensation of time passing quickly or slowly, but it does seem like the past year has gone faster than usual. I guess that means we're having fun. 

Since the 2nd was a Saturday, we decided to celebrate our anniversary on Friday evening to avoid staying out too late and being late for church on Sunday. We decided to go to dinner at The Melting Pot. For those who don't know, the Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant. Amy and I love fondue, so ever since Amy found out about the restaurant, she's wanted to go. I've wanted to go also, but had heard it was kind of expensive. We decided that we could afford one nice dinner a year and made reservations. We stayed downtown in a hotel Friday night to make the whole experience a little more formal. 

Fondue is seriously the most fun eating experience EVER! There's just something about dipping food in sauce or cooking meat in oil that gives the whole experience a creative feel. It's like you're creating your own food concoctions. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Taking advantage of our waitress as she brought the dessert fondue, we asked her to snap a picture of us together.

Oh, and Punxsutawney Phil did see his shadow... 6 more weeks of winter...  

Letter to a thief...

To the person who stole my license plates:

Obviously you don't know me, I am just the owner of the random car you picked to take the license plates from. I don't know your intentions with them, I probably don't want to. Hopefully you don't use them for a bank robbery or anything like that. Maybe you're just too broke to register your own car... or, Maybe you just liked the letters PFH, I know I do. I was reminded of that Farmers insurance commercial when the guy finds his car has been stolen, all those weird things start occuring. There weren't any cats barking like dogs (even though there were a plethra of cats), but there was that strange feeling.

Still, I just wanted you to know that it was a great inconvenience for me because I'm sure you weren't thinking of that when you took them. Obviously I couldn't drive my car this morning. Without license plates, I would've been pulled over, so I walked to work. Not that I'm complaining, I should walk to work more often. It isn't very far from my house and I could use the excercise. However, walking in 17 degrees F when it feels like 6 degrees, not cool, er warm as it were.

So, next time you need to steal my license plates... at least consider the weather... Or leave me $10 for the replacement plates.

Most Memorable Moment of 2007

So I just did this layout yesterday in honor of our most memorable moment of 2007 for the frameworthy challenge at Scrapbook Graphics and the dare from Digi Dare Ya!

I really loved these challenges because it helped me think outside the box and do a layout that I LOVE!!

Happy New Year!!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I can't believe its 2008. I'm not ready...but who is ever ready right? Things are good. We have been enjoying a great break from school and I'm not ready for that to start up soon either. Its my (Amy's) LAST semester!! I'm soooo excited! We spent the holidays here at home with Zach's family. It was my very first time being anywhere but in California at my house for Christmas. Kinda sad but we had a great time! Life is good. Some of you know that I've gotten quite a bit involved with digital scrapbooking...its so great! (Actually I've started a blog for my scrapbooking...its www.rememberwhenscraps.blogspot.com - take a look). So alot of the digi scrapping communities have been talking about our most memorable moments from 2007. My #1 most memorable moment was no doubt my wedding! I am married to the most magnificent man. We are perfect for eachother and he keeps me laughing and feeling good about myself all the time. I love him! We are so blessed to have temple marriages so we can be with our familes FOREVER. I'm so glad I have Zach for forever! In about a month we will have been married for ONE YEAR!! I can't believe it. Time flies by so fast...and in the words of a new popular country song..."Don't Blink"! Hope this new year is a wonderful one for everyone. We love you all!
